The Realm of the Afterlife
Although this realm is in-between manifestation and Eternity, it is a byproduct of matter and works in tandem with invisible energy. This is the dream state of the mind, a cloud of images, which moves on without the body and brain. A group of charged particles (the reflected mind) that were with you in your brain since birth were imprinted with everything you’ve ever heard, seen, did, or thought of. Much like a small seed is imprinted with characteristics of the huge tree before it even gets planted. These charged particles surround your Soul like a bubble, and have your whole life history imprinted in them, and everything is up for review. Your desires and fears with the most energy (power) behind them come up first in this state, which is similar to your nightly dreams. Your sharpest interest at the time of death will be your belief system, and you will see exactly what you want to see, because you make it happen. If you think a bright light will shine, or a stairway from heaven will appear, or you may believe that Saint Peter will be standing at the pearly gates checking sins, well then, that will take place. But it being a dream and created by your interests it will soon move on to the next fear or desire, which carries the most weight with you. The only way out off this death state is to wake up in Eternity by shunning all images, which is surrendering your newly acquired attributes (energy), which represents your whole life here on earth. You are not energy at your Soul’s core, and everything related to energy must be voluntarily given up in order to find the place that energy (particles) can’t go. The afterlife will seem uncontrollable and repetitious with traumatic events, because it grabs your attention, and attention is how it survives. Particles feed off of the energy that you direct with your attention, a constant give and take like a parasite feeding off its host. This can take centuries before the energy dials down to subtle enough levels before particles break up and disperse. You can get through it earlier if you draw your attention away, and ignore the drama. Meditation in life is an important tool to help you to look away from the mind, because the mind is really not you at all. Strengthening the witness through meditation is extremely helpful in controlling your attention, as apposed to a mind that cycles to much and is out of control and restless. If you can withdraw your attention away from the scene (mind) in the afterlife and not give in to it, it will eventually disappear. It all hinges on your ability to look for the Truth (God) by looking away from the untruth.
Under the right atmospheric anomalies these minute personal bubbles can remain in its life setting, and grow in size and density. By drawing the energy from within this unusual environment, making if feel lifeless and cold to us as in paranormal experiences. Then the orb covers the size of the area and you can see the persons drama (dream) play out before you, because of the extra energy contained in moisture, heat, and magnetism in the air. Although they can’t see you they may sense your presence (energy taking and blocking), and their dream is super imposed over you, and this is not recommended, because you may now be the bad guy that took there life in the first place. A traumatic event like murder can be very repetitious for the dead, because the meaning and justice of the incidence eludes them. The dimension of the afterlife will have many levels, from the high energy that the body relinquishes at the point of death down to really subtle levels that will affect the luminosity of the dream. This state of being is self illuminating so there will be no shadows or ways of controlling the light or the dream, like you had when the particles were attached to your brain. Independent thinking is a thing of the past now, and you are in bondage by your desires and fears that you never got over. They all have to play out and you have to watch. Those who had an evil life, well then, welcome to your nightmare. Those who were stable, good, humble and open will move on quicker, because of the lack of drama or interest. If you had a steady diet of meditation and spiritual contemplation you will move on even quicker. Only the enlightened ones who have gone through the process while living will pass right by this phase. Everyone else will have to go through it, because they don’t want to give up their life nor the identity they created for themselves.

Hi Kurt, I was looking at books written by Vethathiri Maharishi on this site, http://www.vethathiri.org/books/, and I was wondering which books would you recommend ?

Hi Rekha,
Swamiji’s books range from a more scientific approach, which you may find harder to read, to everyday life issues.
If you’re into the sciences: Bio-magnetism, Universal magnetism, Genetic Center, The Mind, Unified force, The Gravity.
If you’re looking to better yourself through introspection: Yoga for a modern age, Five steps to realization, Karma yoga.
If you’re wondering about society in general: Story about the universe and living beings, Blue print for world peace, Logical solutions, Prosperity of India, World peace.
Here is the book I recommend and maybe his best book: The Journey of Consciousness.
Topics of interest: Life before birth and after death; this is a small book easy to read, and I like his attached Soul theory, which explains things like channels and schizophrenia.

I was reading this blog article and was curious if at the time of death can we consciously choose either light or dark, and what happens after we choose the dark (pure awareness) ?http://nonduality.org/2009/02/09/lucid-dreaming-facing-the-dark-areas/

They’re saying choose the dark, because of the non-dualistic nature of darkness and its similar to the Aware state, and they’re right, because the light is full of images and duality. Its similar to the meditative state when we’re choosing darkness over lit images, which makes it a non-dualistic act. Focusing your attention on the darkness should work if its in some constant form in the afterlife, because your surrendering your involvement with the images and the darkness will eventually give way, but to what?. Remember, you are before the darkness and in the afterlife the darkness is a good step, however I’m not sure the darkness is available like that, and my experiences with lucid dreaming tell me that it will change into images. The black areas morph into more images after a while and I believe it’s due to the Self lit nature of the dream, and the same holds true for the afterlife. The Light of Awareness is always there and it brings things into constant view while connected to energy, so I don’t think you’ll be able to hang on to the darkness for very long, and even when it’s completely dark its still part of the same energy field. The black is involved in the same process as the displaying of images that happen upon it, so choosing it will activate images, because the black here is not pure Awareness like in Eternity, for there you can see right through it like its hallow, and its pure Awareness without the threat of images. Any darkness after that is part of the particle illusion that covers the real Eternal Reality, so you’ll have to retreat further than the darkness.
The pure Light of Awareness or the light of the dark Void, is light in its still embryonic stage before morphing into moving energy, so there is no movement or complete darkness there. I think you’ll have a hard time hanging onto or finding the dark in the afterlife. I think finding darkness only becomes easy when you’re attached to the brain and eyes. In the after death state the mind goes on without the brain and its reflected by the images appearing before you, and these forms represent your attachments.
Their statement reminds me of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, but I think they say choose nothing, not the light nor the dark, which I have a tendency to agree with more, so with this advise you should withdraw your attention away from all of it until it completely vanishes and you’re in Absolute space. Darkness is an elusive background that maybe hard or impossible to find in the afterlife, and choosing the dark is still choosing duality, because of its relationship with energy.

That's good to know! Dreams are quite involuntary, but it would be good to be able to withdraw attention from all the stories.
