Modern Day Spirituality, a no nonsense guide to spirituality

Author’s Note:

This site gives me the freedom to explain spirituality my way in a straight forward manner without much ideological guidance. I try my best at clarifying something that’s not exactly easy to explain and in the process get some feedback. It’ll help me get better and help the seeker to their goal. This site is all original material done by me, there is no intent to profit, con, copy or bolster my profile. That is not my interest, I don’t think it’s important you know who I am and my anonymity here will show my interest is honest and to make spirituality understandable my goal. There seems to be an unfortunate lack of enlightened (Self-realized) western teachers in the world and I hope my words will help fill that void. If not for my Self-realization this site would've been pointless when you don’t have the experience to really help anybody spiritually. But now it’s different, I now know for certain and the information I speak of is indispensable for all. And now I really enjoy analyzing anything spiritual so please feel free to add something and we can add some deeper meaning to your day. It’s important to understand the value of just reading this site, you will have gone deeper and cover more ground spiritually than most seekers have in their life. A lot of paths don’t provide the deeper spiritual insight. This will help you through the process or at least help you understand it and maybe plant some spiritual reserves for later. I hope you the very best in your journey and may you too discover your permanent resting place within Eternity. The Author, There are many different words for God and I carefully use a variety based on their deeper meaning such as: Eternity and Awareness, to stay away from humanistic qualities. When the words are capitalized like this you’ll know I’m referring to the One Almighty God or the infinite realm called Eternity. When I capitalize Soul or Self it’s intentional because it means the same, it has the same purity of Eternity, Awareness and God because they are all part of the same dimension.

Author bio

In the late 70’s I went from the confusion of western religion and western philosophies to eastern spirituality and philosophies. I picked up a lot of different books on teachers and different paths of yoga and decided I needed to find someone who claims to be Self-realized and find out if it’s for real. This is where I met my first teacher in 1984, Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi from India was a gentle old sage that was easy to talk to (besides his accent) and accessible. I went to his retreats for several years before I hosted retreats with him for a couple of years. He stayed with me during this time, after a couple of weeks I was able to ask all my questions and find out if he and this thing called enlightenment is for real. I was assured by his words, his state of being and his honesty that I was on the right track and he was the right mentor. During that time his people turned me on to another enlightened teacher, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and that was the finale piece in the puzzle. Even though I would never meet him, and Yogiraj was now too old to travel but it didn't matter because all I needed was their books to carry me through... If they can do it so can I! I’ve been successful in my pursuits in life and now I have the opportunity to apply myself in another direction with the same confidence. I was a successful in two different occupational endeavors and retired early at age 43, I was ready to give it another go after two years of settling in. It was 2002, I now had the free time to sink myself deep into the spiritual path. My sights were set and I wasn’t going to look up until I was done. I kept my attention directed in and in July of 05 the greatest achievement of my life happened when enlightenment dawned. In 2007, I started this site to help other seekers in the same manner I was mentored. Since I don’t have any ideological and cultural dogmas of religions I can burn my own path. I’m a normal person like you helping out where I can, I’m not looking for anything in return.

Are You Enlightened Because of Your Experience? I noticed that there are people on the spiritual path that think they are realized when something unusual happens to them, but this is common on the spiritual path. The mind and the ego can conspire to create all sorts of visions, sounds, and body reactions out of fear and want. Also, spiritual experiences vary dramatically between people, but enlightenment remains the same, eternally unchanged. You can analyze these experiences yourself by following a few guidelines, and if you answer yes to any of these questions you did not experience the ultimate state of being and you are not realized, and must continue with your pursuit. Was there any doubt about what you saw or do you question the meaning? Did you have to research it, or ask someone to help you analyze it? Was there form, color, any sounds or movement in your vision? Did you think for a moment: What was that? Did I fall asleep? Did I hallucinate? What happened? And Why? Was the lighting in your vision normal or have too much light? Or was it pitch-black? Was there any body convulsions, shaking or any other sensory feelings involved? You can't remember what happened? Do you still take medication for depression or do you suffer bouts of mania or mental illness? Real Enlightenment is a total surrendering indicated by a smooth transition that is feelingless and beyond any physical or visual attributes of this universe. Body movements (shaking) are an indication of resistance, an internal tug of war between the individual perceiving point in the mind, and the Soul's perceiving point in the rear most position. These experiences are what I like to call a partial surrendering, and this can bring in some insight that wasn't there before (like Tolle), but it is not true Enlightenment. I had two of these partial surrendering before my Self-Realization, but I heeded my teacher's advice and shelved it until I witnessed the Truth. Once that happens to you, you realize that it is impossible to doubt, the thought itself doesn't even come up. In this attribute less realm you know exactly where you are, and what's happening (if you can call it that), and it's absolutely doubtless. To doubt would be the ultimate sin, because doubting the Almighty you negate all of life as well as your soul and others. That is why it is impossible to doubt. Posted by Kurt at 12/23/2007 10:28 AM Categories: Spirituality How does one see God? Well, you can't experience God through the senses, because that involves energy, and you really have to go beyond energy for that divinity. This is what is referred to as enlightenment and anyone can do it if your intent is sincere. Eyes can't show you this dimension, so you have to go in, and meditate, shunning all form, color and movement (energy). The mind has to be silent and still for this to happen, because the mind is foreign to our natural state. A decoy free meditation is the only way to cut off the show completely, without any mental support. It has to be pursued continuously during all of your spare time, and it isn't easy. It took me many years (25) to intellectually understand it, and about three years of serious around the clock contemplation and meditation, in order to see God. If you're persistent, you will prevail, provided you understand the guide lines. Rituals and scripture are not enough and barely scratches the surface when your dedicated to the path. Enlightenment has to be your only desire, rendering the world powerless during your pursuit. After enough time it makes one ripe for surrendering, and when you give in to it, let go, and see for yourself, then you are rendered empty, yet completely full. You see the Almighty in this pure, still, space, and you can see clearly to the end of it, despite its dark or dim nature, and you are at home with God. Not needing anything, or anybody, you are complete, and with the search over you are content in knowing the truth. You finally gain the upper ground with the mind, ego and life. The suffering ends and an internal happiness prevails, which I like to call contentment. Posted by Kurt at 11/15/2007 12:02 PM Categories: Spirituality What is Enlightenment? I see this question on the net, but the lack of an answer with substance is missing, because they are historically and mechanically defining the word. Enlightenment or Self-realization is an experience that happens after a sufficient amount of time is spent in meditating, and/or spiritual contemplating, and then one sees the truth behind all that we see in the world. In order for this to happen consciousness (energy) has to open her doors for you, and this is done by you, burning a hole to breach her wall, if you will, and then the white portal opens up to reveal the Truth. That truth which you see is God, and that is the Kingdom of heaven, or the absolutely pure, still, and silent space of the Almighty. You realize what you really are which is God seeing God, and by seeing our home in this huge, dimly lit space bigger than the universe, your view on life is changed forever. Enlightenment is the same common experience that all the great saints have seen. I saw the same Void that Jesus, Buddha, Krishna and all the rest saw, and it will never change. The only thing that could be different is the length of time one spends in Eternity. I was only there for around thirty seconds, but Jesus could've been there longer, which could account for his powers, but genetics would also play a roll. For self-realization to happen consciousness has to open up, by you letting go of it, then you're beyond it. That place is Eternity or Perfection, which never changes, and everything that does change is related to energy (imperfection), but we are not energy at our core (soul), we are Perfection. We get to experience energy for a short time, then we enter the purification process (after-life) to dial down the energy, and surrender it to the unknown in order to find home. Enlightenment is to finish this process early while living thus skipping the after-life. By going in and not wanting anything to do with appearances (the world) you eventually see the other side and become one with Eternity. The actual you, doesn't go anywhere, it was always at home in Eternity, just blocked by images. Once you are self-realized your fears and desires are washed clean, and you understand life from a new perspective. You are now able to judge spirituality and life from that point of view (Absolute Awareness), because the personal or individual point of view is gone, or much further from reality, and as the days pass the more detached you get. This is why it is called the enlightenment of consciousness, because you now witness the consciousness within you, and you are no longer in it, or of it, or identify with it anymore. This ever so subtle distance is enough to gain control over it and the mind, because you don't identify with any of it and the energy becomes freer and purer. Contentment is the result of this enlightenment a long with a clear understanding of reality and illusion, due to a direct experience of the Almighty Space, God and Eternity.
