In the late 70’s I went from the confusion of western religion to eastern philosophies and spirituality. I picked up a lot of different books on teachers, guru’s and different paths in the early 80’s. After research I found a common thread in the teachings of the great ones who burned their own path. I needed to find someone who claims to be Self-realized and find out if it’s for real or not. 

The new age was gaining speed and spiritual teachers from India were flocking in to take advantage of it. In 84, I was in LA during the great Guru migration and I took advantage of it. After about 5 disappointments I met my first teacher. Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi was a gentle old sage that was easy to talk to and accessible. He had no requirements or rules, besides showing up there shouldn’t be any rules like veganism, abstinence and postures. I went to his retreats for several years before I decided to host retreats with him. He stayed with us and I had a lot of time with him. He seemed eager to answer any questions I could think of, but I didn’t have the knowhow then and ran out of questions. I realize now those questions show an eagerness and willingness to learn with an open mind. However, my goal was to find out if he and this thing called enlightenment is real. By the end of his stay, I felt totally convinced by his words, his state of being, his transparency, his honesty and some unexplainable power he had. I knew I was on the right track. During that time his people turned me onto another enlightened teacher, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, I studied him which was my finale piece of the puzzle. If they can do it so can I, I’ve been successful in my pursuits in life and now I have the opportunity to apply myself in another direction with the same confidence and dedication. 

I did a living intensive for two years in 1992, I had two spiritual experiences, but life called me away. I dialed down my meditations and the self-inquiry continued.

In 2002, I had the free time to sink myself deep into my spiritual path with another intensive. My sights were set and I wasn’t going to look away until I was done. I kept my attention directed in and my mind controlled by the direction. In July of 05 the greatest achievement of my life happened. In 2007, I started this site to help other seekers in the same manner I was mentored.
